MODENAS is Now the Official Kawasaki Distributor in Malaysia
After more than two years of the deal being struck between Kawasaki and MODENAS (Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn. Bhd.), the latter confirmed that it is now the official distributor of Kawasaki motorcycle in Malaysia. Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. Japan (KHI) purchased more equity in MODENAS on 26th April 2019 for strategic distribution of Kawasaki motorcycles in the country.
Distributorship of Kawasaki motorcycles will be handled by MODENAS’ subsidiary Edaran Modenas Sdn. Bhd. (EMOS). EMOS will distribute all Kawasaki motorcycles including spare parts and accessories. The company will also oversee services for the customers including technical services and recalls.
This deal is also different from the earlier news of EMOS handling the models below 500cc while Kawasaki (Motors) Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (KMMSB) will distribute the models above 500cc.
EMOS will observe a six-month period for proper handover, assisted by KMMSB. Kawasaki owners can obtain technical service and parts from existing official Kawasaki dealers and stockists during this period.
On another note, the management of KMMSB has taken over the operations of Suzuki motorcycles in Malaysia, instead.
